I have a bit of a bizarre problem. I have a Hyper-V VM and I cannot connect to it via IP address on the host computer. I intend to use it as an SQL server to host a database for a website while I test it, and the first step I can see in this endeavour is to make sure the IP addresses work externally. On the Hyper-V server, using sconfig check that Remote Desktop is enabled. From the computer you are trying to remote desktop from check that there is network connectivity between the compute and the server. The simplest way to check this is probably to open a command prompt window and using ping to ping the server: The default setting for Hyper-V-Server is that it will not respond to ping. The issue is that your Linux server has the IP of 10.88.77.111, which is an entirely different subnet. This means it likely did not receive an address from your router properly, and because of this Windows cannot ping the Linux server. I would remove the network bridge, check all of your settings, and try to create it again. I have turned off the firewalls on both XP and win7. Oct 21, 2008 · The service macafee_privacy_service when shut down would allow traffic to 192.168.1.1 via a dos prompt ping. When this service was up, I could not get to the default gateway or any where else. I don't know why it started having this effect all of a sudden, it had been installed for over a year without issue. Thanks Mark
