Nov 16, 2004 · cannot ping NLB cluster When I attempt to establish a connection to a virtual IP address of a network load balancing cluster, the connection cannot be made across a switch. when the cluster is connected to a hub with a client, the client is able to make a connection without a problem.

I have a bit of a bizarre problem. I have a Hyper-V VM and I cannot connect to it via IP address on the host computer. I intend to use it as an SQL server to host a database for a website while I test it, and the first step I can see in this endeavour is to make sure the IP addresses work externally. On the Hyper-V server, using sconfig check that Remote Desktop is enabled. From the computer you are trying to remote desktop from check that there is network connectivity between the compute and the server. The simplest way to check this is probably to open a command prompt window and using ping to ping the server: The default setting for Hyper-V-Server is that it will not respond to ping. Ping is a popular network connectivity tool that sends a message to a network adapter and listens for a response, so it is a very useful tool for checking that there is network connectivity between two computers. The server is hosted it turns out - SBS 2008 and it also has a VM running Windows 2008 R2 that they're going to use like a Terminal server for less than 5 users to access and run Office 2010 + LOB apps on. The issue is that your Linux server has the IP of 10.88.77.111, which is an entirely different subnet. This means it likely did not receive an address from your router properly, and because of this Windows cannot ping the Linux server. I would remove the network bridge, check all of your settings, and try to create it again. I have turned off the firewalls on both XP and win7. Before I start getting roles installed I wanted to simply ping to make sure they all communicate. I used a made up ip of 10.10.10.11 for 2003 (10.10.10.9 for dns) ect. Just wondering why I cannot ping the clients. reading other post they state firewall. I am sure I have disabled them. Oct 21, 2008 · The service macafee_privacy_service when shut down would allow traffic to 192.168.1.1 via a dos prompt ping. When this service was up, I could not get to the default gateway or any where else. I don't know why it started having this effect all of a sudden, it had been installed for over a year without issue. Thanks Mark
